THE NETZED CONCEPT


netZed is an all-electric dwelling where electricity produced from the sun is equal to the electricity consumed by the suite so it all nets to zero at the end

netZed living is powered by renewable electricity and hot water all around the year

During the day, Renewable electricity is used by NetZED and the excess is traded with the rest of the building through a bi-drectional net meter. The net meter gives NedZED credit for "borrowed" electricity.

RENEWABLE ELECTRICITY

NetZED living is powered by photovoltaic (PV), “solar” panels for electricity all year round. When the sun isn’t shining, power comes from the energy storage system or the building.

HOT WATER

NetZED’s hot water is augmented with solar thermal collectors situated on the roof next to the PV panels.

COMFORT IN NETZED

Heating, cooling and ventilation are powered by sufficient renewable electricity for the whole year. When the sun isn’t shining, power will be supplied by the storage system or the building power supply.

CONVENIENCE IN NETZED

Power for appliances, equipment, lighting, and personal devices are provided by clean electricity from solar power, the battery storage system or the building.

AT NIGHT

NetZED uses stored energy in its battery system or, if needed, redeems the electricity "borrowed" by the building. A bi-directional meter tracks the exchange of energy between NetZED and the building.

FEATURES

NetZED uses VRV technology to provide indoor climate control. VRV is a heat-pump technology using refrigerant to provide heating and cooling in lieu of water. The main benefit of VRV is its higher efficiency under part load conditions.

Ventilation in NetZED is provided by stand-alone ERV units. Energy Recovery Ventilators bring outside air into the suite while recovering a significant part of the energy of the exhaust air.

NetZED uses high efficiency appliances, equipment and LED lighting, helping to save on energy demands.

NetZED is an all electric suite. This means all energy needs are provided by the solar panels on the roof. At night when the PV panels are not producing power, NetZED can draw power for specialize storage batteries or for the building’s electrical grid, if need be.

NetZED features the EletriqIQ Power system. Excess energy captured during the day through solar panels is stored for use at night, reducing the need to use energy from the grid. The system also can store energy when rates are low for use during peak hours. Owners can monitor usage via a personalized dashboard generated by the system’s smart platform.

NetZED uses triple glazing on all of its windows to enhance the thermal performance of fenestration.

NetZED's walls are equipped with technologies that reduce thermal bridging in the wall assemblies. Thermal  bridging is responsible for reducing thermal performance in wall assemblies by compromising the effective insulation value of the materials used in the assembly.
